A message from LCSC Superintendent, Michele Starkey:
I would like to update you on upcoming changes with our COVID-19 protocols. The Indiana Department of Health has made additional changes to protocols and measures which go into effect on February 23rd. The state is no longer requiring schools to report positive cases to the dashboard, contact trace, or quarantine students, regardless of mask use in schools or vaccination status. So effective Wednesday, February 23rd, LCSC will no longer require masks, contact trace, or quarantine close contacts of positive cases in our schools. A federal mandate still requires masks to be worn on school buses; this federal mandate is scheduled to expire on March 18th.
With your help, our schools will document any known positive cases and consult with the local health department if we experience an unusually large number of COVID- related absences.
It is important for families to continue to monitor for COVID symptoms and keep sick students home. Please contact your child’s school nurse to notify them of a positive case.
I appreciate all of your patience and help in keeping our schools healthy and safe.
